Are Tiny Bites Food Shears safe to use?

Yes! Tiny Bites Food Shears are BPA-free and do not contain any lead. The handles and protective blade cover are made from ABS plastic.

What can I use the Tiny Bites Food Shears on?

Our cutlery-grade stainless steel blades can cut through any food that you want to serve your child. It works beautifully to cut grapes, chicken, pasta, pizza, grilled cheese, hot dogs, french toast, noodles, pancakes, fruit, vegetables and much more. It's especially useful on food that is hard to use a knife on such as green beans, string beans, penne pasta. We've even used them to cut jello into little cubes!

Why can't I just use a knife or a regular pair of scissors?

There's nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned knife but have you ever tried to cut up a grape for an older infant with a knife? Or penne pasta? It's pretty darn annoying. And don't get us started on going out for pizza and getting stuck with a plastic knife. Now that's just painful. As for ordinary scissors, we used to use cute, colorful ones from Ikea (before we invented Tiny Bites Food Shears) but we realized the dull blades left a metallic after taste on our son's food. And you don't know if office scissors contain lead or BPA because most don't advertise that. Our blades are stainless-steel cutlery grade (same as a knife) and BPA-free and lead-free. You could also use a regular pair of kitchen scissors but they are much larger to hold than ours and too cumbersome and awkward to travel with. We invented Tiny Bites Food Shears for these specific reasons. We couldn't find another solution. Plus, ours comes with a protective blade cover making it child-proof and pocket-friendly.

What are the measurements of the Food Shears?

Each Food Shear is 5 1/2" inches in diameter. The cutlery-grade stainless steel blades are 2 1/2" inches long.

Why can't I get my Tiny Bites Food Shears to work?

Have you removed the protective, child-proof blade cover? Many people don't realize this is a blade cover. You need to give the blade cover a good pull to remove it and when you place it back on, you need to hear a little click to know it's on properly. This is an important, unique child-safety feature.

What is this yellow lever?

That is our comfort cutting spring. When you have to cut food that requires additional tension, you can raise the cutting spring lever up for some extra support. Make sure to lower it back after you are done and before placing the blade cover. (Another cool, neat feature).

Can I put my Tiny Bites Food Shears in the dishwasher?

Absolutely! You should also wash them before initial use as well as after every use. If you use them when you are out, just clean off the blades with a napkin or wet wipe until you get home.

Are Tiny Bites Food Shears for parents to use or for kids to use?

Our primary target audience are adults who want to cut up food for young children. The secondary market are older kids (tweens and teens) who want to assist parents in food preparation by using Food Shears instead of a knife. They are also becoming really popular with pet owners as well senior citizens.
